Abstracts
Abstracts are now being accepted for consideration. Please forward
your abstract of no more than 600 words to the Conference Convener
(details below). Poster presentations will also be considered and
abstracts not considered for paper presentation may be considered
for poster presentation. Closing date for the submission of abstracts

Background
The types of energy we use and how we use them are central factors
in determining to what extent we are moving towards a more
sustainable system.
Our dependence on non-renewable fuel causes pollution and environmental
degradation.
Sustainable development depends on; research and development into
appropriate, cost effective and cost recoverable technologies and;
how these new technologies and new energy systems interact with existing
economic frameworks.

Keynote Speaker Announced
Martin Green
Martin is currently a Federation Fellow and
Scientia Professor at the University of New South Wales,
Sydney, Australia,
where he founded the University's world-renowned Photovoltaics Centre
of Excellence. He is also a Director of CSG Solar, a company formed
specifically to commercialise the University’s unique thin-film,
poly-crystalline silicon on glass (CSG) solar cell,
now in production in Germany. His group has held the world-record
for silicon cell efficiency,
presently 25%, uninterrupted for almost 20 years. Several of the
group’s
high efficiency technologies are also now in large-scale production.
Former students are scattered around Australia and the world in key
positions in industry and academia. He is the author of six books
on solar cells and numerous papers in the area of semiconductors,
microelectronics,
optoelectronics and, of course, solar cells.
