Long term assessment of constructed wetlands treating industrial wastewater and effect of salinity and heavy metal on the nitrifying community

This project(2007-2010) is being supported by Murdoch University and CSBP Ltd.

The main objectives are:

• To Characterise the nitrifying bacteria community in a full scale constructed wetland treating nitrogen rich industrial wastewater.
• To verify the effect of salinity on the nitrifying bacteria in lab scale vertical flow wetlands and,
• To verify the effect of copper and zinc on the nitrifying community in lab scale vertical flow wetlands.
