| local company leads in solving major enviro-problem

A recycling process, introduced to Australia from the USA through the initiatives of WASECO’s Director Mr Cliff Strahan, could see the problem of waste tyres being assigned to the problem-solved category.

WASECO is the first company in Australia to process waste tyres by means of compressing up to 120 tyres into a 1.6 cubic metre block. These blocks are then used for various civil construction purposes. Each block is 1.4 metres x 1.6 metres and .750 metres thick, these are held in place with five high tensile steel straps. For applications where blocks may be subjected to corrosion, alternative non corrosive straps can be applied. WASECO can also encapsulate the rubber bales in a preformed concrete block that provides a symmetrical and uniformed building block. This process offers a smooth finished block that becomes a unique building alternative, not only because it’s cheaper and stronger than conventional similar products, but because it offers a unique insulation and sound proofing quality. Each block in a ‘raw’ state is 1.6 cubic metres and can withstand up to 330,000 lbs of pressure before deflection. Making them suitable for erosion control, retaining walls, light weight in fill for road construction, cheap housing construction and more. The blocks can also be economically coated in concrete with a shotcrete process to provide various types of finishes in different applications.

WASECO has it’s head office located in Belmont Western Australia with a recently opened branch in Liverpool, Sydney NSW.

Because WASECO’s tyre pressing machine is mobile, apart from processing tyres at their receival depots in Perth and Sydney, they also offer a service that can benefit regional areas of Australia.

WASECO is an environmentally conscious company and it takes pride in making a much over due service to regional areas.

WASECO DrumMuster Service
WASECO has taken the initiative to commence coordinating with local regional councils to begin ‘tyre musters’ to clean up problem tyre waste. As part of this service and because WASECO is sensitive to regional issues, WASECO will contribute back to the various communities a dollar percentage of the cost for these cleanups, to local designated organizations.
