| Minister Judy Edwards announced on Saturday October 12, 2002,
| that the ETC Waalitj Complex had won the
| WA Environment Award in the category of Eco-Building.

The award in this category is for a group, organization or individual who has made a valuable contribution to the protection of the environment in the design, construction and operation of buildings or dwellings in a commercial, government, urban, suburban, rural or other context. Congratulations to the other finalists in our category, Yelverton Brook Luxury Eco Retreat and Wildlife Sanctuary and Dal Alcock Homes. Our congratulations to all the other winners and finalists and the overall winners Denmark Environment Centre and St John of God Health Care Subiaco and the Individual Environment Award recipient Mr Alex Campbell. Winning this award will see the ETC nominated in the National Banksia Environmental Foundation Inc Awards 2003.

The ETC would like to thank Mr Bryce Bunny, Murdoch University Environment Officer, for his support and encouragement and having the forsight to enter the ETC in the awards. Similarly we extend our thanks to the University Environment Committee & Community Relations Department (Mr Rob Osborne) and Flavia Campos and Natalia who put the application together with help from Bryce and the ETC staff.
