Two of the ETC's
research scholars have been nominated for the local AWA WA Branch
Undergraduate Water Prize. Last year's prize was taken by fellow
ETC researcher Wendy Green.
Kat Taylor has
worked with Water Corp and the Town of Northam to judge the effectiveness
of using sub-surface dripline to deliver treated wastewater to public
open space (i.e. parkland). The bulk of Kat's work made up her Honours
Thesis and ongoing project work continues with the full support of
both the Town of Northam and Water Corp.
John Hunt (pictured
extreme left) has worked with National Lifestyle Villages to assist
in developing an
integrated water management system for their developments. John for
his Honours research further refined his work and designed an interactive
assessment tool to rate a developments water efficiency. By entering
simple data about water consumption and use, John's tool will arrive
at a score that can be compared across different developments to
see which are water efficient. The tool also allows land developers
to see how introducing new technologies and/or water management systems
can change their overall rating.
Both outstanding
students have been working under the supervision of Dr Martin Anda.
John went on to be awarded Second Prize at the gala WA AWA Branch
Awards dinner and attracted the attentions of representatives from
GHD.
