Janet
Edghill,
a student of Murdoch University and member of the 'etc vermi group'
is completing a project on the
waste
audit
and
the economic
and
environmental
aspects
of
vermiculture
at
St. John of God Hospital. Janet is also a student of the corner-stone
Environmental Science unit N210: Environmental technology for Sustainable
Development.
Janet has just
won the National Waste
Management Competition. Her prize? A
trip to
Melbourne to present
the paper at the International Solid Waste Management Conference
in
the second week of November. The paper deals with the potential
benefits and limitations associated with integrated waste management
in
Australia.
Janet and the
other members of the 'etc vermi
group' are working under the supervision of Senior Research Dr Jaya
Nair. Pictured above are Janet

barefott Engineering's Vermi-composting toilets. Otti has recently
completed her honours project, supervisied by Dr Jaya Nair, on vermicomposting
human waste and is about to commence her doctoral studies in a similar
area.
