Gregory
Priest, project officer at the ETC, has undertaken a trip to Japan
to meet with UNEP-IETC technical officers to progress the ESTis and
nESTs Information Systems.
Growing
up in the Western Australian wheatbelt town of Beverley, Gregory has
a sound appreciation of some of Australia's biggest environmental problems,
salinity and water. At 22 years of age Gregory has just completed his
Masters in Environmental Science here at Murdoch University. Taking
this year to further develop his skills and gain some work experience
Gregory is considering further study at Doctoral level to complete
a PhD. Gregory's research interests have so far focused on greywater
reuse, water conservation and water resources management. Earlier this
year he presented a major paper on greywater reuse at the OzWater Conference.
After
a night flight to Tokyo, Gregory took the famous Shinkansen (Bullet
Train) to Osaka, where the UNEP-IETC head office is located. Personally
invited by Director Steve Halls, Gregory is keen to further refine
the ETC component of the ESTis system; the nESTs site.
After
returning from Japan, Gregory will head a team travelling to remote
northern WA to present a series of training sessions for Aboriginal
communities on water conservation.
