Murdoch University
Permaculture & Environmental Technology Society (MUPETS) is a 'not
for profit' volunteer group made up of community
members, students and university staff based at the Environmental Technology
Centre (ETC). MUPETS develops and maintains the permaculture landscape
and the technology that supports it at the ETC. MUPETS is an inspirational
demonstration of permaculture ethics and principles that encourages
community participation through busy bees, work shops and applied research
opportunities. MUPETS is a registered organization with Volunteers
WA and runs a number of community-based work and training programs
such
as Work-for-the-Dole and Green Reserves.
Green
Environment Mondays [GEM]
@ 1:30 - 4:30
The ETC is proud to host the volunteer GREEN ENVIRONMENT MONDSYS
[GEM] at the ETC/MUPETS Site, in conjunction with MUENSA and the
Murdoch Student Guild.
Work in the permaculture garden and sustainable technology site
under
skilled direction and in small teams.
Projects for 2004
include:
- designing, constructing and planting out a 'new'
organic vegetable garden
- implementing
a native nursery for propagating native plants for the Qenda Wetland

Street and Murdoch Drive]
We are also seeking journalism/multimedia practitioners/students who
would like to document the GEM by taking photos, creating a website
and more.
We aim to:
- share skills and information by working on real projects
- increase use of the ETC/MUPETS site
- have a great time working in one of Perth's best research centres

Volunteer Mondays are followed by the ETC homebrewing and BBQ [ring

Australian
Open Garden Scheme
MUPETS + ETC are proud to be involved with Australia's
premier garden event - the Australian Open Garden Scheme. Hundreds
of gardens throughout Australia are open to the public throughout
the year. We are taking a break this year however but will
be open again in 2005. Don't forget you are always welcome to
drop in and take a self guided tour of the gardens or join in
the Volunteer Monday programme. For more info contact us.
