» Symposium Outline

Overview of technologies for black and grey water management:
including septic systems, aerobic treatment units, compost toilets, grey water units, sand filtering, aquaponics, wetland filtration, rotating bio-disc contactors, membrane bioreactor plants, multi-stage aerobic biological filters

Parallel technical sessions:
Stream 1 Dealing effectively with nutrients and biological issues micro to macro scale: point source to total catchment management
Stream 2 Irrigration systems and wastewater: product choices, time scheduling, disinfection, common problems, ongoing management
Stream 3 Constructed wetlands: discussion on types for different purposes at a range of scales
Stream 4 Open space: an opportunity to network on topics important to you but not scheduled in seminar

Parallel workshop sessions:
Wkshp 1 Home-based wastewater management systems selection and planning. Site assessment, regulation issues, application processes, selection from options, timeframes, sources of technical assistance, ongoing maintenance
Wkshp 2 Community or subdivision wastewater management selection and planning. Site assessment, regulation issues, application processes, selection from options, timeframes, sources of technical assistance, ongoing maintenance Refreshments available all afternoon

Question & Answer session:

NB Where possible we have provided a summary or abstract of a paper or person’s presentation. In some cases we have a full paper and as such have included them. Shortly we will offer all presenters the opportunity to have their paper put on the Symposium Webpage (at the ETC website) with a view to producing a publication.
